LEADERSHIP: A FOCUS ON THE MULTI-LEVEL EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM—THE ECOLOGY OF LEARNING*

Goal:

To develop the capacity of school, district, and state professionals to re-envision their role and understand how integral it is with other spheres of community life.

 

QTEL will provide a collegial and professional context so that attending leaders can problematize their daily work in safe and intellectually rich environments.

​Themes:

• Conceptualize the ecology of learning and maximize the impact of their role within and across micro, meso-, and exo-systems

• Become reflective about beliefs, knowledge, and skills that move leaders, and how to maximize or reorient them

• Design productive alternatives to structures that undermine the success of English Learners: patterns of course enrollment, the assignment of classes to the right educators, the systemic development of all personnel that work with English Learners

• Understand and discuss optimal ecological arrangements for English Learners
