Educating Immigrant Students in Turbulent Times: A Call to Action
It is never easy to start anew in a land where the culture, language and approaches to schooling are different. This becomes even harder when the national context is dominated by anti-immigrant discourse and policies. This address will consider the key issues that push people to migrate as well as return to their country of origin. It will look at approaches for educators to mitigate the challenges felt by their students and families by teaching about current immigration issues and being as proactive as possible by way of taking an advocacy stance.
