If you are staying at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins hotel, you can take a shuttle bus both to and from the Golden Gate Club. Shuttles will leave the hotel at 7:30 a.m. and will return at 3:00 p.m.


For those of you who will be driving, there are several parking lots near the Golden Gate Club. Parking is $7/day, and can be paid for with a credit card or coins. 


Both breakfast and lunch will be served at the conference site. Breakfast will be served every morning at 8:00 a.m., and the institute will begin at 8:30 a.m. We will break for lunch from 12:00 –1:00 p.m. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know if you did not already indicate it on your registration form.

Monday, July 15th

Walking Tour to Fisherman’s Wharf

We’ll meet at the Mark Hopkins lobby at 6:00 pm and walk to Fisherman’s Wharf to see the bay and munch on seafood delicacies.

Tuesday, July 16th

Walking Tour to Golden Gate Bridge
We’ll leave directly from the Golden Gate Club at 3:00 pm and head down to Crissy Field to take great pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Wednesday, July 17th

Walking Tour to Fillmore Street
We’ll meet at the Mark Hopkins lobby at 6:00 pm and walk to Fillmore Street. On the way there, we’ll explore Japantown’s many restaurants, and on the way back up the hill, we’ll stop at a few watering holes.

Thursday, July 18th

Drinks at the Top of the Mark
We’ll meet at 6:00 p.m. at the Mark Hopkins lobby and go up to the 19th Floor where we can enjoy cocktails and tapas at the “Top of the Mark” and say our goodbyes.

2019 QTEL Summer Institute Attendees


This year the Quality Teaching for English Learners initiative is partnering with Sonoma State University to offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to attendees of the 2019 QTEL Summer Institutes. 
More specifically, participants will have the opportunity to earn three CEUs with Sonoma State University School of Extended & International Education (SEIE.) The cost for the three units is $85.00.
