​Quality Teaching for English Learners (QTEL) is a vital part of WestEd, a national nonprofit research, development, and service agency that works with the educational community to promote excellence and improve learning for children, youth, and adults. QTEL, a unique professional development initiative, provides educators with the tools they need to help students achieve college and career-readiness in the 21st century.

The QTEL approach to professional development helps educators make sense of today’s changing educational landscape as they re-conceptualize their approach to developing students’ language and literacy practices under the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and other new standards (e.g., WIDA, Next Generation Science Standards). QTEL’s widely-acclaimed professional development framework provides a coherent portfolio of professional learning opportunities aimed at developing teacher expertise and improving student learning.
