OVERVIEW

The QTEL Coaching Institute,* which draws upon research showing that the most significant factor in determining the quality of students’ education is the quality and expertise of their teachers, was designed to develop participants’ expertise in the details and constitution of creating successful learning environments for ELs within the context of state standards.

 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

​

Participants who have completed the QTEL Building the Base Institute or a QTEL Disciplinary Literacy Institute and wish to further develop capacity and understanding in pedagogical theory and classroom implementation.

Participants will:

​

• Understand the Principles of QTEL and the shifts in instruction required to implement them

• Learn how to successfully guide teachers in the design and implementation of well-supported lessons that exemplify the QTEL Principles

• Develop expertise in instructional coaching to effectively lead planning conversations, conduct classroom observations, and provide growth-oriented feedback

• Analyze problematic classroom situations and model productive coaching behaviors
