MONIQUE EVANS
Program Associate

Monique Evans is a Program Associate in Mathematics for the Quality Teaching for English Learners initiative within WestEd’s English Learner and Migrant Education Services. Evans designs professional learning experiences for mathematics teachers that expand their expertise to support English Learners in simultaneously developing conceptual, analytic and linguistic practices through participation in classroom lessons characterized by quality interactions. She works with teachers attending professional development institutes as well as instructional coaching relationships developed within schools and school districts.
Evans previously worked as a facilitator of high school mathematics professional development with UCLA’s Curtis Center. Evans has also worked as a mathematics instructional coach with an emphasis on student-centered coaching at Environmental Charter Schools. In addition, Monique was a mathematics teacher in Lawndale, CA where she developed and implemented lessons for students spanning the high school grades. Her areas of expertise include student-centered coaching and unpacking the standards.
Evans holds a BS in General Mathematics as well as a MEd from University of California, Los Angeles.
