In order to sustain the work of developing educator capacity far into the future, QTEL offers cycles of formative rounds. During each cycle, QTEL members facilitate classroom observations with school and district leadership that demonstrate how to recognize and support quality instruction in English Learners’ classrooms.
WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THIS SERVICE
School and district leaders who wish to support site educators in the implementation of quality programs for English Learners and to situate the learning from the QTEL Leadership Institute to the context of their site.
School/district leaders engage in facilitated classroom observations and debrief meetings in order to analyze the current state of instruction in the school/district and determine how the curriculum and instruction enable students to increasingly understand new concepts, skills and language.
Participants meet with a QTEL staff member for technical assistance meetings to analyze data from instructional rounds and identify key areas and actions for improvement in weaving knowledge and interconnecting ideas with students’ own reality and linguistic and cultural identity.
