Dear Colleagues, Today we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Quality Teaching for English Learner's Summer Institutes in San Francisco, which were to take place from July 13 – 17 and July 20 – 24, 2020. We are committed to the well-being of our partners, staff, and community and will follow San Francisco guidelines regarding restrictions on large gatherings and social distancing. Hosting over 300 educators in San Francisco in July, does not seem advisable at this time.
As of right now we are still planning to host our summer institutes in Washington D.C. in August. Our goal is to provide a powerful learning opportunity for our partners. However, our first priority is the safety of all staff, attendees, and community. So, we will be closely monitoring the situation and will send you further communications should anything change.
We remain committed to being your thought partner in the design and implementation of quality learning opportunities for English Learners. We are currently exploring virtual learning and networking opportunities that can bring us together this summer to build capacity and re-imagine education for English Learners. Our students have been particularly disadvantaged by current school closures, so we must take this opportunity to commit to an ambitious future for them.
