2022 QTEL Summer Institutes

“Deepening Instructional Practices During Complex Times”

Come join national and international educators at the 2022 QTEL Summer Institutes to learn how to deepen instructional practices for English Learners in complex times.

Week 1: July 18 – July 22 • Week 2: July 25 -July 29

The Quality Teaching for English Learners (QTEL) initiative at WestEd is excited to announce that we will be offering our summer institutes in San Francisco in July 2022!

Now more than ever, focusing on the needs of students is critical. Educators must reconvene, recommit, and be recharged to lead the design and implementation of quality programs and learning opportunities for English Learners.

Although COVID-19 continues to challenge us, we endeavor to challenge and support each other by hosting our summer institutes in San Francisco as an opportunity to deeply engage in professional learning and collaboration. English Learners, as well as all other students, are experiencing the impact of multiple years of virtual and/or hybrid schooling. We, educators, must come together and build on lessons learned during the last two years, in order to ensure that the 2022-2023 school year gets off to a powerful, engaging start, one that focuses on two key components: the talents of English Learners we can build on to realize their immense potential; and the development of our expertise to get the job done in intentional and powerful ways.

We will be closely monitoring and following all CDC recommended guidance to ensure the safest conditions are possible for those who join us in person.

For those who may be uncomfortable with travel, we will also be offering virtual summer institutes consisting of asynchronous and synchronous components. Virtual attendees will have streaming access to the SF institute keynote speakers throughout the week.
