Join Johnpaul Lapid at CABE 2025

Don’t miss Johnpaul Lapid at this year’s California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE) in Long Beach! His presentation will emphasize the importance of providing young English Learners with opportunities to engage in quality interactions, in particular around wordless books, to help them build oracy and confidence.

Johnpaul's presentation, “Wordless Books: Developing Oracy for Young Learners through Quality Interactions,” will explore how to create rich learning experiences for these learners. He will introduce the Quality Teaching for English Learners (QTEL) approach to support students’ simultaneous development of content knowledge and language during Integrated English Language Arts instruction.

Participants will engage in an interactive lesson that highlights the significance of oral language development to support young English Learners to express ideas, share their experiences, and enhance their language skills through planned discourse opportunities. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on and discuss how to implement this approach in their context.
