Spotlight Session: English Learners in Mainstream Discipline-Specific Classrooms: The Development of Multiliteracies for All

Description: The 21st Century requires citizens with very different skills than society needed only two decades ago. This presentation builds on the research and implementation work of two signature initiatives aimed at developing the critical subject-specific multiliteracies with English Learners for the contemporary and future work. The session addresses pedagogical arrangements that amplify access for English Learners working together with native speakers of English in the same class. A rigorous, robust, and flexible approach will be proposed and demonstrated.
