Description: This workshop session invites Spanish teachers (K-12), regardless of program, to design powerful language-rich lessons that transform multimodal texts into meaning-making tools. This session, anchored in sociocultural pedagogy and conducted in Spanish, focuses on the pedagogical treatment of multimodal texts to – through interactions – prepare students for complex sense making.

Presentation: Extending Students' Understanding Through the Use of Multi-Modal Texts

Description: This workshop invites ELA teachers to engage students’ reading and understanding of texts through purposeful lesson design practices. The session will focus on the third moment of the Quality Teaching for English Learners’ (QTEL) lesson design and illustrate, through student interactions, ways to extend and solidify students’ understanding of texts.
