What do educators need to fully challenge and support Multilingual Learners?
Develop teacher expertise at the nexus of knowledge, practice, and reflection while expanding their vision of and motivation to teach Multilingual Learners, sensitive to local context.
Foster deep professional collaboration that is focused on shared, evidence-based instructional practice for Multilingual Learners in mathematics.
Expand the shared repertoire of practice and shared instructional practice that enacts an ambitious vision of learning with Multilingual Learners.

For example: Collaborative Lesson Inquiry Cycles are a powerful model for developing collective teacher expertise while simultaneously advancing classroom practice centered on Multilingual Learner talk. We worked with one team of teachers to create, test, and refine a lesson, launching from student talk about engaging everyday topics, in which they explored the statistical concept of independence (Santiago et al., 2025).
